Getting Out of Your Own Way and How to Cultivate the Right Mindset with Saz Reed

Have you ever felt stuck in a rut, struggling to achieve your goals or make positive changes in your life? In this inspiring episode of the Choosing Change podcast, marine scientist Saz Reed shares her greatest life lesson - that it's all about mindset.

Saz found herself in an unfulfilling job that didn't align with her values of work-life balance. She realized she needed to make a change in order to get unstuck. Through acknowledging where her mindset was at and writing down goals, she was able to gain clarity and take action.

Saz quit her job and embarked on an epic 800km bike ride across Scotland to reset herself physically and mentally. She discusses the importance of surrounding yourself with supportive people, clearing away excuses that hold you back, and fully committing to challenges - even when they take you out of your comfort zone.

Listeners learn practical tips for overcoming obstacles and cultivating a growth mindset from Saz's experiences overcoming adversity through positive change. She shares how acknowledging your mindset is the first step to getting out of your own way and achieving what you want in life.

Saz's advice to "clear the runway and hit go" provides motivation to define your goals, set yourself up for success, and take inspired action. This empowering episode will leave you feeling motivated to change your perspective and live an adventurous life on your own terms.

"Surrounding yourself with those supportive people, friends, family partners, to help you achieve what you think you can't. Because from that, it gives you a better mindset or help you get into that good mindset." - Saz Reed

"I think to cultivate that mindset, you first need to acknowledge it, or have someone else acknowledge it for you. So then you start to acknowledge it. So and I think once you have acknowledged it, for me, it's turning to paper, and working out what's wrong, and how you can get that mindset back on track." - Saz Reed

I am Saz Reed, a marine scientist who loves adventuring and hanging out with my pals and family in all of my spare time. For the past 10 years I have worked as a Marine Scientist and professional skipper/diver all over the world on research and consultancy projects. I am currently putting these skills to the test working at SSE Transmission as a Marine Consents Manager, consenting subsea power cables. When I am not at work I try to get the most out of my lunch breaks, evenings and annual leave to get fit and adventure. My favourite new pastime is going remote bike packing, with our latest trip being Kyrgyzstan. I have many different past times that I try and give a go depending on the weather conditions – Scotland is the place that has it all.
