So new year’s is just days away. Here we are on the cusp of 2021. How freaking exciting is that? Oh my goodness. Today’s episode, I am going to be sharing with you. The people pleasers guide to setting intentions. Now I love setting intentions. I love dreaming about my year. I love visualizing. I love creating, setting myself up for what the year is going to look like.

It takes time to do this. It’s not going to be, over and done within 15 minutes. Let me walk you through my process to actually get you into your body and thinking about what it is that you want. Because as a people pleaser, I know that you’re probably like, what about my family? What about my friends? What about this person at work? Or, this person that I see online, et cetera, guess what the whole idea of setting intentions for yourself is that you are looking after your needs first. So let’s dive into this process. ? Okay First thing you need to do in creating your intentions for 2021 is to get out of your house. I kid you not. You need to do this alone. This is something that you need for you, which means get out of the house. If you do work well at home, like I live in a rainforest.

For me, getting outside and sitting on our little patch of grass, surrounded by trees works the same. It is, a couple hundred meters down the road, but at least I’m still out of my house, but I’m in nature. Now the whole idea of getting out of your house is I want you to go somewhere that is really supportive. If you’re one of those people who loves climbing a mountain, if you love swimming by the ocean, if you like me, love being surrounded by nature, waterfalls, trees, whatever it is, go and find you a little piece of paradise and connecting with this. One of the girls, great things like those that live by the coast and getting into the ocean, go for a swim, do that thing. Then, set up yourself a little picnic rug to like get them the extra vitamin D while you’re in there and work through the next coming steps.

Because what I want you to do is while you’re doing this practice of, going for a walk in nature or sitting in nature and observing is to actually focus on you, take a snack, whatever, go for the swim in the waterfall, in the ocean, get to the top of the mountain and just sit in your own gory for a moment, acknowledge good moment to acknowledge everything that you’ve achieved this year. So many people don’t do this. They’re too busy setting and planning ahead, which I love. Like I love to think ahead. I love to make sure that, my world is slowly falling into place, but celebration and acknowledging our achievements is so undervalued. Like some people just don’t do it. I’m going to encourage you all just to take a moment and just be like, yeah, Holy shit. Yes. I’ve done X, Y and Z this year.

Oh my goodness. I have learned whatever it is to yeah. Just be like, Oh, how cool is that? And it’s yeah, that you’ve learned yourself stuff that you’ve uncovered about yourself. Not about anyone else we’re focusing on you this time. Isn’t that you, I don’t want your kids to call you. I don’t want your partners to call you. I don’t want friends calling you turn that phone off. This is a time for you to get present and just be in the moment. What I encourage you to do is go find a place and spend one to two hours with just simply being you in a place that feels nurturing. Of course. So that’s step one. The next thing that I do with my intention setting is, I kickback. If I’m at the ocean, I’m on a sarong. If I’m down in my Crossy area at home, I’ve got my yoga mat out.

Take something that you can lay on and just be in nature. Yes. You might be the strange person at a, I don’t know, a green space area on a yoga mat with your eyes closed, laying there while everyone’s picnicking and doing their thing. What this is about you connecting in with you. Get yourself on that yoga mat for a minute or on a sarong and kick back and just close your eyes. You can either do a little meditation before this, depending on if you need to like get that brain slowing down. The whole idea of you doing an activity in nature was to slow your mind down anyway, and to get you present to this moment. If your brain still hasn’t quite slowed down enough to maybe a five, 10 minute meditation, and then what I want you to do is close your eyes on that mat and start to visualize what 2021 is going to look like who you this time next year.

Oh my goodness. You know, the sky is the limit. I want you to get super crazy with your ideas. Like what is it that you want to do? You achieve? What do you want to be doing? Who do you want to be? What do you want to be wearing? What do you look like? Who are the people around you? Where are you living the whole life? Dear, this exercise is to let your mind go crazy with the ability of what you are capable of. Crazy thing is we are all capable of the ideas that come up. It may not be in this one year, but we are capable of creating all the steps this coming year to make this happen, which is really exciting. Sorry get yourself there, close those eyes, really breathe and let that imagination run wild. Once you’ve done that for about five to six minutes, maybe even 10 minutes, whatever it is that you need.

Like just, let your mind wander. There’s no, you have to do this in five minutes. You have to do this in 10 minutes. You have to do this in 20 minutes. No this is your rules. This is how you work. Okay. I please just allow your mind to wander as much as it needs to and explore the different possibilities and trying different things on. One of the great things about doing this in more time is observing our body. Just like in the last episode I spoke about observing the body. It is so important to do this. I think for a lot of people, they’re like mindset, and look, I love mindset. We’re going to get to that in a minute, but observing ourselves and what our body is trying to communicate with us it’s or so important. So even through this process yeah. Or are you speaking on a stage? that could be terrifying for somebody other people go, Oh my God, I’ve always wanted to do that.

Awesome. See how it feels in your body, you know, are you terrified and shrink back down or do you know that’s something that you would like to do and you may not have done it yet. You don’t know how it’s going to happen, but that’s something that you want to work towards. Awesome. Like, is your body excited? How did about it play with your visualizations and see which one and try them on and which ones fit for you? It’s a really fun thing to do. Like I often get, my whole year through just asking my body, is this what I want? Is this what I want? do I want to be a published book author, say, for example, isn’t this year for me, the book that I’m writing this year has they can be so much longer than I had anticipated. I’m totally okay with that because I’ve caught no rush to get this done because here’s the thing I’m still learning.

As I write, I’m still uncovering new stories, new things to add to the book. One of the things for me in setting my intentions for the new year is to keep exploring that it’s not like the books going away. It’s just, I’m not in a rush to get it published. I’m in a more of a creative process to like come up with an amazing story. And that’s what I’m working towards. That’s something that I know that for me, I’d be more proud of is creating this body of work that is me in a published book. When I know it’s ready, it’s not there yet. And I’m okay with that. It’s like really checking in with these big goals and seeing where you are like, what’s the next steps you need to do this year? It quitting your job and starting your first business? Is it having a baby? Is it moving across the country? there are so many possibilities that you can do.

Maybe you want to get fit this year and you joined the gym and you want to stick to it. It’s not going to just be a new year’s resolution. It’s like, well, no, I’m doing this for me. That’s the other thing is like, your body will help respond to these things as well. So let your visualization happen. Enjoy the process from there. What I want you to do is get out a journal or some paper, whatever your process is and write everything down that was profound through that visualization feelings, body, observations, everything. Sometimes, during a visualization, you might need to write something down, straight away, just do so just have your journal by your side when you do it. Just really get everything out, flesh out. What’s your big vision? What is 20 and 21 for you? How does that look? Once again, the people that are in your life, where are you living? What are you doing in your everyday world? Who are you being? What friend of you, what family member are you? What mum are you? like question all the things I can really come up with like a solid, this is what I’m going to be in 2021.

This is how I’m going to be showing off in 2021, writing all those things down helps affirm those thoughts and feelings that you’ve just had in your body. It’s almost like a declaration. I love this process of getting stuff onto paper. Once you’ve done your big journal entry and look, if you’re not a big journaler, don’t worry. The next step is for you. What I want you all to do is write down 10 to 20 things that you want to achieve in 2021. Now I like to challenge myself. I get an a for ruled age and I literally go from one to, I think it’s 28, there’s 28 lines, usually on a page. I think of all the things that I want to achieve 28 things. And I fill it up. Some of these things are like simply, going to the dentist twice a year.

Cause I want to look after my health. Some of those things are really simple. Other ones like, on this, year’s one it’s like to write a book. Well there you go. I wanted to write a book. I didn’t know how or what the book was about. I know what it is about now, but maybe the seed is going to be finished the book. Awesome. What is it you want to achieve? So put it in dot form. You do take it off, you’re like, yes, I did that one thing and it can be in across any region of your life. Business work, life home, you name it. This is your year. You design it. Once I’ve done my list, I then go and create some affirmations. This is where the mindset comes in. Once you start working towards what it is you want, you need a bit of motivation to get you across the road.

Many times have I seen people start, something gets hard and then they stop or they change. They don’t do something about it. Like there’s no perseverance or determination to get it to that next point. And it’s always those moments. It’s always those moments when we want to give up that there’s gold on the other side. It’s interesting to observe our bodies in these moments as well, like where we’re coming from out of fear or is there a limiting belief or whatever it is. However we’re not going to dive too much into that today. If you do want to dive into that stuff, look, I love talking about that. So just message me away. Let’s go back into yeah, the affirmations and the mindset. Every day I have my ideal day, like who I’m going to be, how I’m showing up in the world. I read that to myself, along with, I’ve got about five to six affirmations that I read for my year.

These ones are the ones that I read in the morning, along with what my day looks like. This is just to remind me of who I want to be in life and to help me get those things. One of my biggest ones this year has been, I trust my intuition is such a simple affirmation. I trust my intuition. I’ve been saying this now probably for over six months, I almost feel like it’s cemented in and that I’ve almost nailed fully trusting my intuition to its full extent. There’s still of wiggle room that I know that I’m still playing with. This year in 2021, I plan to keep going with that one. I trust my intuition no longer forcing, no longer pushing. I want you to come up with some really beautiful affirmations, perhaps it’s, I’m abundant and manifest with ease. I am confident and speak my truth.

In all situations, I run a booked out business and I’m in high demand. You get to decide what your affirmations are. Maybe it’s I feel fit and healthy in my skin, come up with your own. What is it that you want to achieve? And what’s going to motivate you to make those things happen. Affirmations are really powerful. I really love them. I encourage you all to try them, put them on your fridge, put them next to your computer on your computer, desktop savers next to your bed. Like put them around the house, bathrooms, mirrors wherever, and make sure you read them every day. This is what you’re working towards. These are the little things he like. Yeah. I trust my intuition. You have that little niggle of self doubt, you’re like, hold on a second. I know that in my gut, this is right or wrong.

Simple. Once again, it’s the same things. Like there’s a reason why we’re reminding ourselves of what we’re working on. Highly encourage you all to do that. So there you have it. My people pleases guide to setting intentions, get yourself focused on you. Get present, get away from your house, get away from people. Get away from technology, check in, do the visualization, let your mind wander and think and create and have that space and ability to do that. So set yourself up to do that. Don’t just walk into the forest 10 minutes and then plop yourself down and visualize. I want you to really immerse yourself into nature or an experience before doing that, write it all down in your journal, write your actionable list of things that you want to achieve and then create some affirmations to set your year up. All right, I’m going to leave it at that short and sweet this week.

Next week, I’ll be back to talk to you all about five habits to practice this year. As a people pleaser, these are five things that I’ve done myself and I know have made such a huge difference in my world this year. I can’t wait to share them with you all. See you next week and keep inspiring.
