I’m a natural planner and I love to have things mapped out ahead of time, so that I know when things are coming up and when. I can ditch the overwhelm and doubt because I know what it is I need to do daily, weekly and even monthly in life and business. 

This doesn’t mean that I schedule my life down to the last minute either. Let’s get real, I have two kids under the age of 7 and that means life can go from easy breezy to holy moly, there goes the rest of my week because they have come down with a cold. 

It just means my work time gets pushed back a week but I like to remember we are all here to do our life’s work and that means we don’t need to rush, we have all the time we need to do, create and share. 

Today, I’m sharing all the reasons why you need a roadmap for your business, so you can stay on track and reach your goals.

Having a roadmap that has an overview of where you are heading (yes you don’t need a five-year plan if you are not at that stage of your business) but at least look at the year ahead, this gives you the confidence to articulate and share your vision with others. It shows them that you mean business, you’re committed and have a direction for what you are hoping to achieve. 


Someone who knows how and when to show up to serve their audience and does so consistently will gradually build momentum and be seen as an expert. They are seen as reliable and trustworthy and people will want to hear their message, story and unique point of view – #helloadoringfans


When you know the next step in your business it’s easier to make decisions, hire help, outsource or expand. Having a roadmap with milestones allows you to navigate each stage of your business, once one is complete you can move on to the next. It takes away all the overwhelm of what do you need to do next. Having a plan in place as to how you are going to generate more leads can start off with one thing, but over time expand to several offers, new products. Having the roadmap helps you to focus on what needs to be done. 


Tracking in your business might start with just finances, but it can also cover, leads and social media. When it comes time to weigh up what is working and what is not having a roadmap with targets can help you re-access and potentially save you some cash. For example, if you are looking at your finances and you have more going out than coming in you can refine your outgoings, amp up sales before you would want to make a big purchase. 


This is my personal favourite, knowing what I’m going to be delivering each week to serve my audience saves me loads of headaches around ‘what do I write’. Total lifesaver, this also crossed over to my social channels and emails.  I know when I’m launching, sharing my freebies and so much more!


When you create a roadmap that is made by you for you and your business, it takes away the need for comparison. This is a total asset because you know what needs to be done in your business, how to grow and scale it – your way. You can stay focused on what needs to be done instead of looking outside of yourself for all the answers! Total #gamechanger
