Welcome to the second installment of the Inspired Social Series. This week we are talking to Hayley Tapper a success mindset coach for spiritual female entrepreneurs who are ready to drop the struggle and manifest a life and business beyond their wildest dreams. She believes that you can have, do, be and achieve anything you want in life, and she is on a mission to help you believe that too.
The thing that I love the most about Hayley is that her presence on social media is infectious. Her Facebook Live feeds are just so good that I can’t help watch them. There is something about a woman who is empowered, enchanting and manifesting all her goals and it is Hayley.
Let’s dive in.
Why did you start your business?
Honestly, I just couldn’t stomach the corporate/office life! I always knew that it wasn’t for me, so for most of my early twenties, I was searching for ‘that thing’ that I was supposed to do. That search led to study psychology, work as an autism therapist, travel the world as a flight attendant, and many things in-between. Finally, I stumbled upon the world of coaching and knew that this was something I really wanted to do.
My first business was a health coaching business, and through that, I quickly found out just how fundamental your mindset is to your success in business (and life!). That got me really interested in mindset and also more spiritual principles like manifesting and law of attraction. Now I work as a success mindset coach and I help spiritual female entrepreneurs create kickass mindsets so that they can manifest the success they envision for their lives and businesses!
How has Social Media helped you to grow your business?
I love social media! It has helped me to connect with amazing women all over the world and share what I love to talk about with a wider audience. I’m a Facebook and Instagram girl myself, and those platforms have helped me to get my message out and connect with the women who need my help. In terms of growing my business, it’s a huge part of my business! I actually couldn’t imagine my business without social media! When potential clients contact me, one of the questions I always ask is ‘where did you hear about me,’ and it’s always one of my social media channels.
What is personally your biggest challenge with Social Media?
Having downtime away from it is the biggest challenge for me. When a lot of your work is on social media, it can be hard to switch off from that. I have been getting better at setting boundaries around when I will check and update my social media, but the truth is I do truly enjoy being online and sharing so I find it difficult to switch off!
What do you believe has helped you grow your business online?
Doing the things that I love and sharing what I love. I used to have rules around what type of content I should post and when I should post. That felt so restrictive and it zapped all the fun out of being on social media. So I threw out all the rules I had created for myself and instead did the things I felt called to do and shared what I wanted when I felt inspired to. And doing this certainly helped to grow my business online.
What is your Social Media routine?
I don’t have one! I’ve tried the routines, I’ve tried pre-scheduling content, and I’ve tried content plans. And these things totally work for some people, and that’s great, but they’re not for me. When I’m staying really aligned with my message and doing my own inner work, it’s easy to create and share content on social media. I feel inspired and then I share that. So I guess if I had a routine, it would be doing what I teach – the mindset work – so that I can show up as the best version of myself online and share that with my audience.
What’s the best advice you have been given and why has it helped grow your business online?
Break all the rules – so often we think there is a certain way that things should be done, or we make rules in our own minds of the ways things should be done (I have to have x followers before I create a course, or I have to have x subscriber to my email list before I start a Facebook group, blah, blah, blah). These rules really don’t serve us. Just do the things you would love to do, do the things you are called to do, and don’t worry if you have to break the rules (often your own rules!) in order to do that.
So for me, I had a rule in my mind that I should only start a Facebook group when I had a bigger following on my other social media accounts. And so I held off starting a Facebook group for months (despite really wanting to have my own and loving being in others groups). So finally when I realised I was holding myself back in this way, I broke my own rule and started my Facebook group. Well, it quickly became my favourite place to hang out online, and I have created a lovely community of women who are excited to hear from me and many who have now bought from me as well.
When you get overwhelmed or frustrated what helps you stay motivated?
I can’t say that my motivation waivers that much actually, and I think that’s where a lot of my frustration and overwhelm often comes from. I’m so motivated to get things done that I want them done yesterday, and so this means that I often put a lot of pressure on myself to produce work quickly. I love the challenge, but it does mean that sometimes I get overwhelmed by it! And when that happens I go back to basics – meditation, fresh air, sleep, and good food.
What would you share with someone who is just starting out or new to the power of Social Media?
Share what you love, make it fun, and don’t compare yourself to others.
What’s your favorite: App, Website tool & People to follow???
App – does the Facebook app count? haha, I actually don’t use many apps, but I do like Snapseed for editing my selfies 😉
Website tool – Canva! I make all my graphics on that website.
People to follow – I love following all my fellow BYCA coaches to what amazing projects they’re working on!
